Touching on the upstream sector, the Minister of Energy explained that the ministry is working closely with the main operators so that projects disrupted by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic can be developed in 2021/2022. The projects include the drilling of several wells that will further guarantee the volume of oil and gas needed for the continued well-being of the country's economy.
After carrying out exploration and development works for more than 90 years, Brunei Darussalam faces a challenge that require a higher expenditure in the search for new oil and gas volumes. The Ministry of Energy will ensure that Brunei Darussalam's upstream sector is ready to increase explorations and also the development of oil and gas fields that have not been previously ventured into, namely DEEP WATER.
