During yesterday's session, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pendikar Alam Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Hasrin bin Dato Paduka Awang Haji Sabtu highlighted the issue of bringing in a domestic helper. Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doktor Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, the Minister of Home Affairs explained that it is permitted if employers or other parties wished to make a transfer locally if the domestic helpers cannot return to their country of origin. It is permitted if they wished to change employers. However, the process and procedures are similar to the pre-COVID ones. Another issue is if domestic helpers have gone home on leave and cannot return because of the COVID pandemic, they are allowed to return now but must adhere to regulations set by the Government, including self-isolation besides the swab test when they reached the country.
