The Ministry of Transport and Infocommunication and the Ministry of Energy with the collaboration of the Brunei Darussalam Climate Change Secretariat, BCCS will launch a two-year Electric Vehicle, EV Pilot Project to support the three strategic goals of Electric Vehicles, EVs under the Brunei Darussalam National Climate Change Policy, BNCCP. The matter was shared by the Permanent Secretary for Energy at the Ministry Of Energy in a press conference on the Launching of the Electric Vehicle Pilot Project yesterday afternoon. Awang Haji Azhar bin Haji Yahya said, the Electric Vehicles is one of the 10 main strategies in the National Policy on Climate Change of Brunei Darussalam which was launched in July last year.
Meanwhile, Awang Haji Muhammad Nazri bin Haji Mohammad Yusof, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry Of Transport And Infocomunication explained that among the objectives for the implementation of the Electric Vehicle, EV project and the results of the pilot project will also be able to assess if there are other alternatives other than EV to be implemented in long term by 2035.
The Electric Vehicle Pilot Project Launching Ceremony will be held on Thursday, 25th of March 2021 at Bridex Hall 2 in Jerudong for 4 days. The initiative is also supported by the support and cooperation of Non-Governmental Agencies and Associations including, Brunei Shell Marketing Company, Brunei Automobile Dealers Association and Brunei Insurance and Takaful Association. The public is welcome to attend the Launching Ceremony and are advised to comply with the COVID-19 Outbreak Control Measures in the country. Also present were Pengiran Haji Jamra Weira bin Pengiran Haji Petra, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Energy And Power at the Ministry of Energy; and Awang Haji Hairul Mohd Daud bin Haji Abdul Karim, Deputy Permanent Secretary For Infocommunications, Cybersecurity, Strategi And Corporat at the Ministry Of Transport And Infocommunications.
