The First Meeting of the 17th Legislative Council Session in its fourth day yesterday, approved the budget allocations for the Prime Minister's Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ministry of Defence and Ministry of Finance and Economy and made it as part of the 2021 Supply Bill Schedule 2021/2022.
Electric vehicles or EV's was among the issue that was first deliberated on in this morning's session. In giving further comments on the issue, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof, explained the EV Initiative Policy is one of the 10 main strategies in 'The Brunei Darussalam National Climate Change Policy' and a National Level action group which is the 'EV Taskforce' has been formed and jointly headed by the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications and the Ministry of Energy. According to the Minister of Transport and Infocommunications an EV pioneer project will be launched soon.
Yang Berhormat said that the EV Pilot Project will involve various stakeholders with the target after 2 years of implementation is to make an assessment and study on the effectiveness and public response in regards to the project as well as make any appropriate actions to achieve the target of usage in the country or if there are other alternatives apart from EV to be implemented for long term by 2035.
