To introduce and raise public awareness on the functions and roles of the Brunei Darussalam Food Authority, BDFA, which was formed recently, several briefing sessions were conducted by the authority starting on the 1st of March. Yesterday afternoon, a briefing was held at the Ministry of Finance and Economy.
The briefing was delivered by Dayang Siti Khadizah binti Haji Abdul Latip, Senior Health Officer. Apart from the functions and roles of the authority, the briefing also touched on the powers given to the Brunei Darussalam Food Authority based on the act and regulation that have been amended at present. The act and regulation include the Brunei Darussalam Food Authority Order, 2020, Public Health Act (Food) Chapter 182 (amendment) 2020, and the Fresh Meat (amendment) Order 2020. The participants comprise of food and beverage business companies namely importers, food manufacturers, exporters, retailers; micro, small and medium food processors as well as representatives from the Brunei Darussalam National Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
