As part of the efforts to uphold the aspirations of the Brunei Darussalam National Council on Climate Change, which has launched the Green Protocol on the 30th of January 2021, the Ministry of Home Affairs and its Departments' Cleaning and Green campaign was officiated yesterday morning. The ceremony took place at the BIBD Connects building, Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas in the capital.
The campaign was officiated by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs. The Green Protocol is a guideline for the government sector to implement Brunei Darussalam's National Climate Change Policy, BNCCP, and make government premises as 'Plastic Bottle Free Zone', as well as planting up to 26 thousand trees by the end of 2021. The event ran concurrently with the Cleanliness Awareness and Tree Planting in the city centre, organised by the Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Department. Among the activities held during the campaign was the planting of 29 'Bucina Green' saplings around the Jalan Residency, donated by Bank Islam Brunei Berhad, BIBD as part of their corporate social responsibilities. The campaign will be also held throughout the year in all districts. Also present, Members of the Legislative Council.
