The importance of history is indisputable. By understanding the history of the race, it can strengthen the core values of the Bruneian and instil the sense of loving and patriotism among the citizens and residents of the country. The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports highlighted the matter during the launching of books by Brunei History Association, PESEBAR, yesterday afternoon. Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin also said that the publication of the books are in line with the role of PESEBAR in disseminating the history of the country at every level and what is more important is to ensure that it is always alive and maintained as a symbol of civilisation.
Yang Berhormat further said that it is appropriate to focus on ensuring that the country's history continue to be appreciated and deepened, especially among the younger generation so that they have an awareness of their origins, have resilience and a strong sense of identity. In this era of borderless globalisation, awareness on the country's history plays a critical role as a strong and effective stronghold in facing external challenges that can threaten the core values of Bruneian. The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports also urged all to make full use of industrial revolution 4.0 towards further widening the scope and method of dissemination for history, particularly for the new generation.
Six books written and produced by PESEBAR members were launched, namely The History of the Development in Education in Brunei 1950-1985; Politics and the Brunei Sultanate 1804-1904: Enduring the Storm to the Blessed Shores; Brunei Darussalam Educational Policies in Six Decades: A Study of Developments and Challenges; Pengiran Bendahara Brunei dan Bendahara Malacca: A Comparison of Roles and Issues of Daulat Derhaka; Brunei's Culture in a Betelnut Shell; AND Melayu Islam Beraja: Amanat 1984. The books were translated from the original publication in Malay Language, except for the 'Melayu Islam Beraja: Amanat 1984' book. The printing of the books were sponsored by Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah in support of practising, assimilating and implementation of Malay Islamic Monarchy values which has become the country's core identity and way of life. Also present was Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Mohimin bin Haji Johari @ Jahari, Member of the Legislative Council.
