The Manpower Industry Steering Committee, MISC Construction will continue to make plans and activities in providing job opportunities for locals in the construction industry. The careers include carpentry; as well as air conditioning and scaffolding technicians. Speaking during the Construction Industry Job Marketplace 2.0 Launching Ceremony, Engineer Awang Haji Amer Hishamuddin bin Pehin Orang Kaya Amar Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Zakaria, Permanent Secretary for Housing Infrastructure and Professional, Ministry of Development also shared on the cooperation between the Ministry of Development, Ministry of Education and the Manpower Planning and Employment Council, MPEC Permanent Secretariat in introducing a new programme which exposes students to the construction industry which will help them to acquire skills and work experience from the beginning.
Engineer Awang Haji Amer Hishamuddin added that the Institute of Brunei Technical Education, IBTE, Ministry of Education will introduce the innovation program titled IBTE HNTec Construction and Draughting (Dual TVET) Programme. The program is one of the initiatives of the MISC Construction, which combines industry requirements and feedback as well as regulators requirements towards the upgrading and modification of the study programs in IBTE education institutions. IBTE will start opening recruitment soon with the first intake planned to commence this year.
The Construction Industry Job Marketplace 2.0 was officially launched by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Engineer Awang Haji Suhaimi and Haji Gafar, Minister of Development. Also held was the introduction of the HNTec Construction and Draughting, Dual TVET course which will provide knowledge and skills by combining institutional and industrial based training covering a range of modules related to the construction industry. 47 companies and stakeholder agencies took part in the event by offering more than 250 job vacancies related to the construction sector as well as other general positions. The event will run until tomorrow from 8 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon. Earlier, some 55 trees were planted as part of efforts towards a green environment. Also present was Dato Seri Paduka Architect Awang Haji Marzuke bin Haji Mohsin, Deputy Minister of Development.
