Giant-Sized Flag Hoisting Ceremony

In less than 8 days, Brunei Darussalam will celebrate its 37th National Day. The Celebration's Executive Committee yesterday morning held the Hoisting Ceremony of the Giant-Sized National flag marking the start of the celebration events. The ceremony took place at the open area of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex in the capital.

Present was Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports as Chairman of the Celebration's Executive Committee. The ceremony commenced with the reading of Surah Al- Fatihah, followed by the 'Doa Allah Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam' led by Begawan Mudim Haji Amran bin Haji Mohammad Salleh, Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque Officer.

The ceremony proceeded with the entry procession of the Royal Brunei Navy personnel together with the Flag Bearers comprising Army Cadets, Police Cadets and Fire and Rescue Cadets for the hand over and receipt of the giant-sized Brunei Darussalam flag.

The flag hoisting ceremony was accompanied by the Brunei Darussalam National Anthem, 'Allah Peliharakan Sultan' by the Berakas Secondary School Choir and the Royal Brunei Police Force Band.

The function was enlivened with two patriotic songs and the waving of miniature flags.

The ceremony then continued with the presentation of national flags and posters in conjunction with the celebration to the District Officers.
