Since its establishment, Politeknik Brunei remains focus towards enhancing the quality of teaching and learning for all the programmes, inline with the international higher educational institutions standards. It was implemented through initiatives under the Institution Strategic Development Plan including strengthening the teaching and learning systems. In relation to this matter, the Minister of Education said Politeknik Brunei must always be attentive in adapting to the current situation and demands, especially in the pedagogy method. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman was speaking during Politeknik Brunei 6th Convocation yesterday morning at Chancellor Hall, Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
Yang Berhormat explained that since the emergence of COVID-19 pandemic, the online teaching and learning has become the new normal in education landscape. Digital teaching challenges should be taken as an opportunity for Politeknik Brunei to be more diligent and innovative in instilling technology competency for the students and teaching staff. The Minister of Education also urged the institution to instil the importance of education and industry in the Strategic Plan 2021-2025 to produce innovative, future-ready and resilient graduates to support the country's development. Yang Berhormat added the development of the industry sector is closely linked to the human capital skill growth. In this regard, cooperation between industries and Politeknik Brunei is vital to enhance the student's skills via collaboration programme as an added value to the students. The Minister of Education also noted that Politeknik Brunei is working closely with Hengyi Industries Sendirian Berhad on the plan to establish School of Petrochemical. It is hoped that the school will provide new programmes inline with the human resources need, particularly in producing local expert to lead the petrochemical industry in the country.
317 graduates received their respective certificate from the Minister of Education after completing Level 5 Diploma in various courses. Also present was Datin Seri Paduka Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, Deputy Minister of Education as Chairperson of the Board of Governors of Politeknik Brunei.
