The Manpower Industry Steering Committee, MISC, Working Group for Energy, MISC-WG Energy, a committee under the Manpower Planning and Employment Council, MPEC, has held an Energy Industry Engagement Day. Organised with support from Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sendirian Berhad, the event took place today in Kuala Belait.
It was attended by Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, Deputy Minister of Energy. Also in attendance was Dr. Chin Wei Keh, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Higher Education at the Ministry of Education as the Deputy Chairman of the Manpower Industry Steering Committee, MISC. In her opening remarks, Hajah Rosita Hassan, the MISC-WG Energy Lead reiterated the importance of having the engagement sessions as a platform to continue the dialogue on local manpower development as the industry needs to step up in order to create more local employment opportunities. She added the collaboration between MISC-WG Energy, Ministry of Education and the Industry partners for making significant progress towards its objective of developing the competency framework to strengthen the capabilities of our local workforce through the iSkill programme.
The SkillUP Digital Application launched in tandem with the development of the iSkill Programme to ensure that every trainee in the industry meets the prescribed standards and requirements of their respective qualifications. With the application, construction workers and energy industry regulators can track their career and skills. The application can used in other industries.
