5,501 pupils started their religious pre-school lessons yesterday at religious schools nationwide for the new school term of 1442 Hijrah / 2021. From the number, 2,827 are male pupils and 2,674 are female.
Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs made a visit to Lambak Religious School at Jalan Bedil to take a closer look at the registration session for the new pre-school pupils at the school, yesterday afternoon. 73 pupils were enrolled in pre-school which is divided into 2 sessions. In the first stage, the pupils will be introduced to the basics, such as introduction to the jawi letters, jawi reading, muqaddam aside from other lessons namely amali and tauhid. According to Awang Mohamad Yassin bin Haji Mohamad Yussof, the school's headmaster, the Islamic Studies Department has also introduced a programme called the Insyirah programme as an added value, after the normal schooling hours. This includes an introduction to dikir, tausyeh, rawi as well hafazan or memorisation and Arabic language lessons.
Meanwhile, according to Awang Md Ahsanul Azmi Bin Haji Sarbini, Senior Religious Education Officer And Head Of Religious School Section, Islamic Studies Department, a number of initiatives have been implemented to strengthen teaching and learning efficacy at religious schools, among them, the 1 week 1 chapter of Al-Quran programme, 1 month 1 Iqra programme and Al-Quran Literacy programme.
