A joint operation carried out by officers from the Halal Food Control Division, Syari'ah Affairs Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs together with law enforcement agencies from the Royal Customs and Excise Department, has seized 40.9 kilogrammes of chicken wings of which the halal status is doubted. The incident involved a 19-year-old local man who attempted to sell the chicken wings at a parking area in Kampung Bebatik Kilanas. The operation based on intelligence from the Halal Food Control Division, found the chicken wings sale was offered to the public through social media. All seized items was brought to the Halal Food Control Division, Syari'ah Affairs Department and the case handed over to the Royal Customs and Excise Department for further investigation.
The Halal Food Control Division, Syari'ah Affairs Department urges the public to provide cooperation in channelling any information on raw meat smuggling activities through the Halal Food Control Division hotline 7166222 or any Halal Food Control Division office in every district. Aside form that, the public is also reminded that every entry of halal meat into the country must have a valid Halal Import Permit by following the set processes.
