A holistic and whole of nation approach is key in addressing manpower issues. Thus, as part of this, the Manpower Planning and Employment Council, MPEC, the Prime Minister's Office has created multi platforms for collaboration particularly with industry players. The current manpower landscape and efforts taken by the Government towards enhancing local employability and reducing unemployment in Brunei Darussalam are among the matters discussed during the Manpower Forum entitled: "Can Local Employment Fulfil the Needs of Brunei Darussalam?". The Forum organised by the Association of French-Brunei Businesses, FBBA was held yesterday afternoon at Rizqun International Hotel.
The forum was attended by His Excellency Christian Ramage, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of France to Brunei Darussalam as a Patron of FBBA; and Doctor Chin Wei Keh, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Higher Education, Ministry of Education. At the forum, Dayang Marzalenie binti Haji Omar, Head of the MPEC Secretariat explained that companies are encouraged to work with the MPEC in supporting local employability and employment which includes creating new and sustainable job opportunities as well as developing the right upskilling and reskilling programs for the locals.
