The Members of the Legislative Council delegation continued their working visit yesterday MORNING to the Land Transport Department, Headquarters. The working visit aimed to learn on the Land Transport Department's services as preparation for the Muzakarah or Discussion Session between the Members of the Legislative Council and the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications next year.
During the visit, the delegation had the opportunity to see a demonstration of several projects including the Speed Warning Device, SWD pilot project using the global positioning system, GPS and the TranportBN mobile application. Last year, a total of 289 thousand 978 active vehicles were recorded, an increase of 2 point 7 per cent from the previous year. Meanwhile, 243 thousand 745 active licenses were recorded as of July 2020.
Also present was Awang Haji Mohammad Nazri bin Haji Mohammad Yusof, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications. Currently, a number of Land Transport Department services can be accessed online through the TransportBN mobile application or the e-Darussalam portal. In addition, other payment facilities such as cashless payment transactions using credit or debit card and payment through Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam mobile application, BIBD are also used.
