Islam places great importance on health and well-being after faith. Optimal health will undoubtedly enable an individual to perfectly fulfil the obligations of this world and the hereafter. Maintaining personal health and well-being is a gift from Allah in which the Muslim ummah are obligated to always practice a healthy and clean lifestyle. The matter was among those emphasized in Knowledge Convention Special Talk in conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 74th birthday celebration yesterday morning. The ceremony took place at the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, in the capital.
The ceremony began with the reading of Surah Al-Hud of the Al-Quran by Awang Mohammad bin Ali, Education Officer at the Rimba Arabic School which among other things explained on the nature of non-believers and hypocrites; and the pious who are patient and performed deeds when they are blessed or tested with hardship.
Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office as the Co-Chairman of the Knowledge Convention Steering Committee 2020 in a welcoming speech, among other matters touched on the theme of this year's Knowledge Convention "Mensyukuri Ni'mat Kesihatan Sebagai Anugerah Allah" or Thankful for the Blessing of Health as Allah's Gift'.
The theme was chosen by taking into account the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic which has a significant impact especially on the health and socio-economic development faced by the world including Brunei Darussalam. The theme also explained that health is a blessing and trust from Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala meaning that Islam stresses great emphasis on the physical and spiritual health care in which a healthy body and mind are the foundation for the development and well-being of oneself and the ummah. Health is also the main basis for achieving success and progress in various fields.
Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs in a special talk stresses on health as the greatest and most important blessing from Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala after faith and the blessings of Islam. In the context of the state and the government, Yang Berhormat Pehin explained that the country is obligated and grateful for the blessings of free health services which can be accessed by all citizens.
The Minister said as individuals, or members of families, society and the nation, we should be grateful for the blessings. The country provides health services and we should ensure that the blessing is used properly and brings benefits such as steering us away from infectious diseases, as well as our accomplishments in improved lifespan and infant mortality rate. Some of the country's achievements in health services exceed the expectations of the World Health Organisation, WHO. Yang Berhormat added he country's actions that some of the people are also involved in conform to the principles of Allah's laws that demands the safeguarding of well-being in line with common principles.
To seek blessings from for the Knowledge Convention 2020 in conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam 74th birthday Celebration, doa kesyukuran was read by Begawan Mudim Haji Amran bin Haji Mohd Salleh, Mosque Officer of the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque.
The Knowledge Convention was jointly organized by the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Health with the aim of providing knowledge that explains the role and impact of His Majesty's leadership in applying main values related to the importance of health and cleanliness including its impact on spiritual strengthening and faith in the national development agenda.
