In taking a closer look at the services offered by the E-government National Centre, a delegation of members of the Legislative Council yesterday morning held a working visit to the centre. The working visit was also as preparation for the Discussion Session between members of the Legislative Council and the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications early next year.
The visit started with a briefing on the E-government National Centre. The centre was established on the 1st of April 2008 and is a department under the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications. The department also provides procurement and human resource services in IT related to the e-government initiative.
During the visit, the delegation also had the opportunity to find out about the services given, among them the e-government data centre which places the physical computer systems and components related to the e-government project centrally, the National Centralised Database, NCDB, which offers "Database as a Service" a service which will provide a data base infrastructure for all database from the 11th National Development Plan, NDP projects and projects requiring "Technology Refresh", Brunei Open Data, which is the data.gov.bn portal.
