Launch of 10th PKBN Programme

It is vital for the National Service Programme, PKBN trainees to focus their energy and efforts towards high personality development by possessing noble behaviours as part of their daily way of life. Strong self-identity is a solid foundation to build up an individual who will become the pride of the nation and country. The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports stressed the matter at the Launch of the 10th Intake of the National Service Programme, PKBN. Yang Berhormat Retired Major General DatoPaduka Seri Haji AminuddinIhsan Bin Pehin Orang Kaya SaifulMulokDato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin said the trainees who will step further from the worldly and hereafter aspects must hold fast to the Malay Islamic Monarchy philosophy and becoming the nation’s hope and pillar of the nation. Yang Berhormat explained that the 10th PKBN edition also looked back at the successes that have been and will be achieved since the start of the PKBN either tangible or intangible aspects.


Yang Berhormat said even though we are proud that PKBN has trained 2,931 youths to-date, it cannot be denied that what is more critical is the impact continuity and highly beneficial contribution by practising the skills learned. Yang Berhormat stressed that the PKBN Alumni still needs to step further forwards by significantly increasing efforts to ensure the platform is fully utilised. The trainees were also urged to work hard in order to fulfil the trust as in the titah of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in conjunction with the 12th PKBN Intake Passing Out Parade on 12th of March 2020 that we should ensure that the PKBN Alumni are always involved with services to the community. This is because the objective of the training is not just to build up youths but the youths are also heroes who will work closely with the community.


The launch of the 10th PKBN Programme commenced with the Brunei Darussalam National Anthem presented by the trainees, followed by a recitation of Al-Fatihah and Al-Quran verses. Meanwhile the National Service Programme Oath marks the launch of the 10th Intake of the National Service Programme.


Also present were Yang BerhormatAwang Haji Emran bin Haji Sabtu, member of the Legislative Council. This year is the fifth year the programme is using the Permanent Camp at KampungBatuApoi in Temburong District. In controlling the COVID-19 outbreak, this year’s intake differs from previous ones as it takes into account the procedures and guidelines set by the Ministry of Health. Only two hundred and fifty trainees are accepted including seventy six female trainees as well as 100 trainers.
