Allah Subhanahu Wata'alla created the Earth as a place where people can work for their sustenance. The money, food and everything should be halal and good so that the people can provide for their families and daily expenditures. This will enable us to perform acts of worship and charity such as paying zakat or tithe and giving alms. Agriculture is among the major sources of sustenance or livelihood. The matter was highlighted in the Friday sermon titled, "Benefiting From The Earth Through Agriculture".
Agriculture involves gardening, farming and breeding livestock to produce food. It includes agrifood as well. The prayer leader said producing food from the land is a community obligation in Islam and this is shown by the many Verses of Al-Quran that highlight crops and fruits produced through agriculture. Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wasallam says available lands should be developed to produce food and Islam frown upon leaving the lands idle, unused and wasted.
