The Institute of Brunei Technical Education, IBTE and Authority for Info-Communications Technology Industry, AITI, signed a collaboration to enhance learning capabilities of the “Internet of Things”, IoT. The Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, which among others aims at establishing an IoT Laboratory at the School of Info-Communication Technology, IBTE Sultan Saiful Rijal Campus was signed yesterday morning at the Campus in Jalan Muara.
Present was Doctor Haji Azman bin Ahmad, Permanent Secretary for Higher Education at the Ministry of Education. Doctor Haji Mohd Zamri bin Haji Sabli, Acting Director of Technical Education in his speech stressed the MoU is hoped to support the digital economy Master Plan of which, its main focus is to make Brunei Darussalam into a Smart Nation. Touching on the IoT Laboratory which will be launched next year, Doctor Haji Mohd Zamri said its establishment will provide an approach and help IBTE teachers and students to explore the latest technological capabilities in facing the requirements of the Industrial Revolution 4.0.
The MoU was signed by Doctor Haji Mohd Zamri bin Haji Sabli on behalf of IBTE, and Engineer Haji Jailani bin Haji Buntar, Acting Chief Executive of AITI, representing AITI. The signing of the MoU also aimed to identify projects and initiatives which benefits both parties. The “Internet of Things” Module will be included in the third semester of the HNTec Programme for the Information Technology Course and HNTec for Computer Networking in next year’s July intake.
