The Country’s Film Industry develops rapidly with Increase of Local Directors

‚ÄčThe country’s film industry is developing rapidly with an increasing number of local directors. Awang Aznniel Yunus is among the very talented directors who have sparkled through several short films productions. His most prominent work is ‘The Bongsu Story’.

Awang Aznniel’s talent and interest in film making began while he was still at school. Among his family, his is the only one working in the field and his interest in film production grew after watching video clips on Youtube.

 

He said he learnt many new things as a film producer. Social media platforms such as Youtube and others also help in improving his productions. He made mistakes during the learning process and received criticism but never faltered.

 

Since entering the film industry, Awang Aznniel has achieved several successes including being nominated for Japan’s Tokyo Short Film Festival 2016 with the film ‘MASA’ or TIME. Last year he represented the country at the Best Asian Drama Awards in South Korea’s port city of Busan. His work was entered in the Best ASEAN Drama Category. As young Bruneian film maker who is not 30 years old yet, he is proud to have represented Brunei Darussalam on the international stage.

 

The young director says to be a ‘role model’ one has to have talent, deep interest and serious commitment. Never be complacent because of praise and accolades, accept advice and critics and most of all, always think positive.
