Belait District Police, Royal Brunei Police Force has detained a 64-year-old woman for suspicious involvement in 4-digit lottery gambling activity at Jalan Dipa Negara, Kampung Mumong in Kuala Belait. According to Superintendent of Police Hendrie bin Haji Amin, Acting Commanding Officer of Belait District Police, the arrest was made following information and investigation by the authority.
The suspect, a permanent resident was believed to collect betting slips from the lottery buyer. The raid held this afternoon has confiscated several items used for the gambling activity including cash and betting slips. The suspect and confiscated items were brought to Kuala Belait Police Station for further investigation. The case will be charged under Section 4(C) Common Gaming Houses Chapter 28 that carries imprisonment up to 3 years and a fine of not less than $5,000.
