The establishment of the National Service Programme PKBN focuses on building identity towards mental, physical and spiritual resilience as well as strength of the youths according to the cultural, national and religious foundations. Since its formation 10 years ago, PKBN has produced two thousand and nine hundred, thirty (2,930) alumni. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam today graced the passing out parade for the 9th Intake of the PKBN at the PKBN Training Camp in Batu Apoi in the Temburong District.
Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports; Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Irwan bin Haji Hambali, Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force; Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Pahlawan Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces; Pengiran Mohammad Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Permanent Secretary for Administration, Finance and Estate at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports; and Retired Colonel Pg Haji Zulkifli bin Pg Haji Ismail, Director of National Service Division.
His Majesty then inspected the parade comprising 237 male trainees and 156 female trainees. His Majesty's presence was evidence of His Majesty's keen interest in the development of youth in Brunei Darussalam especially the trainees who completed their training today.
His Majesty then witnessed the march-past in slow and fast movements. The 9th Intake trainees began their training on the 1st of December last year. It ended today. Throughout the training, they were trained by 150 supervisors, instructors, medical staff and administrators from various organisations whose task was to shape youths who are disciplined and prepared to face changes.
In the programme, six trainees were selected to receive the Best Trainee Awards. The awards were presented by His Majesty.
The Best Trainee In Drill was awarded to Trainee Amirul Afizan bin Moksin. The Best Female Trainee in Drill was Trainee Nur Munawwarah binti Haji Ismail.
The Best Male in Physical Training Award was awarded to Trainee Kasyful Asymawi bin Haji Khairul Ariffin; while Nur Hernna Syafiqah binti Abdullah Hirman received the Best Female Physical Training Award.
The Overall Best Male and Female Trainees were Mohammad Wafiy Mustaqim bin Bahrin and Nurul Maziah binti Abdullah Kamarul Sarip.
