The Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy also shared on the International Monetary Fund's projection for Brunei Darussalam's Gross Domestic Product, GDP growth for the year 2020. The country's GDP growth was projected at 4 point 7 per cent.
Yang Berhormat said this estimate among other matters takes into account the first oil and gas downstream industry production for the Petro-Chemical and Oil Refinery Plant Project at Pulau Muara Besar and also the construction of the 'Brunei Fertilizer Industry' Factory while the ASEAN Plus 3 Micro-Economic Research Office has projected growth at 3 point 7 percent. Meanwhile the ASEAN Development Bank also projected a positive growth at 1 point 5 percent. The Department of Economic Planning and Statistics, Ministry of Finance and Economy also projected the country's GDP growth for 2020 will continue to increase between 4 point 9 percent until 7 point 1 percent. This is following increases in several main sectors such as Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries sectors, Industry as well as Service sectors.
