His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office watched the Singapore Premier League Football match between Brunei DPMM FC and Tampines Rovers FC. The match which kicked off the new season for DPMM FC took place at Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas, 6th March night. Also in attendance were His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik and other members of the royal family.

Brunei DPMM FC in black opened the scoring in the 25th minute after Azizi Ali Rahman's free kick was headed by Charlie Clough, and was unable to be saved by the opponent's keeper, Syazwan Buhari.

The home team doubled the score in the 86th through Andrei Varankou. Tampines Rovers hopes to narrow the gap were dashed after having to play with only ten players, when Taufik Suparno was red-carded in the final minutes of the match. The score 2 - nil remained until the final whistle.
