The establishment of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Islamic arts and Calligraphy Studies Centre is hoped to become a source of inspiration to its visitors and will become a platform in ensuring the Islamic Syair or propagation as well as jawi writing to continue to develop. RTB in an interview with Doctor Dayang Nor Imtihan binti Haji Abdul Razak, Permanent Secretary for Planning, Land Use and Environment at the Ministry of Development as the Acting Managing Director of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah said the gallery can become one of tourist destinations that can contribute to "Islamic Tourism".
Doctor Dayang Nor Imtihan added, the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Islamic Calligraphy and Arts Studies Centre is among the initiatives to provide services in expanding various Islamic Arts knowledge and skills. It is one of the efforts to glorify jawi writing, specifically Islamic Calligraphy. The gallery will become another avenue in nurturing the local talent in arts.
The centre is equipped with several facilities including gallery, lecture room, Al-Ma'rifah Hall, Al-Muzakarah room and Semaun Souvenir Shop. Other facilities included prayer area and cafe.
It is open daily for the public from 9 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon except on Friday it is open from 9 in the morning to 12 noon and will resumed its operation from 2 to 5 in the afternoon. Entrance is free.
