36 Times Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony

In line with the country's vision to make Brunei Darussalam a Zikir Nation, the 36 times Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony in conjunction with the 36th National Day Celebration was held simultaneously at all districts. Organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, the ceremony is among the initiatives of Brunei Darussalam's 36th National Day Celebration Executive Committee to further enliven the celebration with religious activities such Al-Quran reading. In the Brunei Muara District, the ceremony took place yesterday morning at the Jubli Perak Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque in Kampung Jangsak.

It began with the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. This was followed by the Khatam Al-Quran from Surah Ad-Dhuha to Surah Al-Massad led by students of Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute. The ceremony then continued with the reading of Takhtim Al-Quran led by students of Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University and Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College. Doa Khatam was read by Awang Abdul Muin bin Haji Abdul Hamid, Champion of National Youth Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran 2019. Dikir Marhaban was presented by the National Service Programme trainees, while Doa Allah Peliharakan Sultan dan Selamatkan Negara Brunei Darussalam was read by Awang Zulhazmi bin Salleh, Mosque Affairs Officer.

Also present were Members of the Legislative Council, Permanent Secretaries and Deputy Permanent Secretaries at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. Held for the 7th times, the ceremony involved over one thousand male and female participants comprised of Youth associations and movements, National Service Programme, undergraduates of higher education institutions, students from the Institute of Brunei Technical Education, secondary and religious schools, youth clubs, mosque youths, Mukim and Village Consultative Councils, Government and Private agencies as well as private individuals. The ceremony aimed to enhance and strengthen the understanding and cooperation among the involved agencies for the community youth tarbiah and development as well as to encourage them to get involved in religious activities.
