More than 20 thousand people have visited the Brunei Book Festival 2020 since its launch last Saturday. The 10 day book festival continues to attract the public especially school students, whereby various programmes and activities at the festival are mostly targeted towards children and school students.
The activities held include colouring contests, culture quiz, book discussion sessions and meet-the-author sessions. There are more than 60 stalls provided for government book publishers, private book publishers, local and overseas book vendors specifically from Indonesia, Malaysia, Sultanate of Oman and Jordan.
Meanwhile, the Language and Literature Bureau, as one of the organisers have also provided an activity calendar until the 8th of March including a sign language workshop, translation workshop and a workshop to encourage a reading culture. Students visiting the festival are among the highest number of visitors each year the festival was held. Last year alone, 53 thousand 4 hundred and 56 people visited the festival inline with the festival's objective of empowering a reading culture among all levels of society.
With the theme "Informative and Inspirative", the Brunei Book festival 2020 is open to the public from 8.30 in the morning until 10 at night except for Friday, from 2.30 in the afternoon until 10 at night.
