With the bridging of ties and the leveraging of skill sets between the public and private sectors, the launch of the Unified Smart Metering System has yielded a smart solution that comprises of a smart meter rollout, meter data management, meter measurement and a unified billing and customer service portal system for water and electricity. These was stated by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy during the Official Launch of Unified Smart Metering System yesterday morning. The event was held at the Empire Brunei, Jerudong.
Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew said through the platform, it will not only reduce Government's spending, but at the same time create an efficient electrical and water resource management. Consumers will also be able to benefit from this initiative as smart meters will empower consumers with visibility over real-time information, enabling them to better manage their utilities consumption and manage their financial commitments.
With this Unified Smart Metering Solution, DST, brings the digital revolution to the utility system, providing up to date near real time billing and an enhanced customer service portal. Every Bruneian household will be able to monitor and manage their electricity and water usage online and on demand. Among those present were Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar, Minister of Development and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yussof, Minister of Transport and Infocommunications.
