The giant-sized Brunei Darussalam national flag that was hoisted for 10 days in conjunction with the 36th National Day Celebration was lowered down yesterday afternoon to mark the end of the period of hoisting the national flag throughout the country. The ceremony was held at the Open Area of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex in the capital.
Present was Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, Deputy Minister of Energy. The ceremony began with the march past of personnel from the Royal Brunei Navy and flag bearers from the National Service Programme. This was followed by the National Anthem "Allah Peliharakan Sultan" by the Royal Brunei Police Force band and Berakas Secondary School Choir.
The giant sized national flag was lowered and subsequently handed over to the Deputy Minister of Energy. Doa selamat was read by Awang Mohd Hasnal bin Haji Mohammad, Imam of the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque. Also present were Co-Chairperson of the Giant Sized National Flag Raising and Lowering Ceremonies and distribution of table sized flag and Semarak Pengibaran Bendera or Flag Hoisting Glorification Programme as well as members of the Legislative Council.
