The learning and understanding of Al-Quran subject need to be empowered to all religious school pupils and students at the secondary school and arabic school before furthering their religious education to a higher level. The Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs made the call at the 28th Prize Presentation of the Under-10 years old Khatam Al-Quran Incentive Scheme for Religious and Arabic schools this afternoon. Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar underscored that it is an obligation for muslims in the country to learn Al-Quran. By learning and understanding Al-Quran, the muslim ummah will become a united community that practise the Islamic teaching as a complete way of life.
Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom added the Under-10 years old Khatam Al-Quran Incentive Scheme has clearly shown the efforts and initiative of the Islamic Studies Department in empowering and upholding the Al-Quran subject in line with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's desire in prioritising Al-Quran education at every level of learning and teaching.
Out of 178 registered participants, only 50 were selected for the finals after undergoing tasmik assessment at the four districts on October last year. From the number, three individuals were assessed as excellent. They are Nur' Aliyah Amani binti Muhammad Al-Ameen from Pengiran Anak Puteri Mutawakillah Hayatul Bolkiah Religious School in Kampung Serusop; Awang Mohammad Zawawi bin Awang Mohamad Zul'izzi of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Religious School and Muhammad Syafie' Ilmi bin Haji Nor Eduan from Lambak Kanan Religious School.
The scheme participants received their prizes during the event. The scheme is among the strategic approach for the development of religious schools in producing an intelligent and skilled students in Al-Quran reading, who always strive to practice Al-Quran reading in daily life. Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Religious School received the best school prize in the tasmik assessment.
