Giant-Size Brunei Darussalam Flag Hoisting Ceremony

In less than 8 days Brunei Darussalam will celebrate its 36th National Day Anniversary. The 36th National Day celebration Executive Committee yesterday morning held a ceremony to raise the giant sized national flag marking the start of celebration events in conjunction with the 36th National Day Celebration. The flag hoisting ceremony took place at the Open area of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex in the capital.

Present was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism. Also present was Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports as the Chairman of the 36th National Day Celebration Executive Committee. The ceremony began with a reading of Surah Al-Fatihah and 'Doa Allah Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam' led by Begawan Mudim Haji Metassim bin Haji Metussin, Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque Officer.

The function continued with the march past of personnel from the Royal Brunei Navy and National Service Programme trainees for the handover of the Giant Sized Brunei Darussalam National Flag by the Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism.

The giant sized national flag was raised to the accompaniment of the national anthem ''Allah Peliharakan Sultan'' by 72 members of the Berakas Secondary School Choir as well as The Royal Brunei Police Force Band.

The ceremony was also highlighted by the performance of two patriotic songs together with the waving of miniature national flags.

The function ran concurrently with the presentation of national flags and posters in conjunction with the 36th National Day Celebration to District Officers.
