The Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications with the cooperation of the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam, AITI and InfoCom Federation Brunei, IFB, will organise this year's Brunei Information Communication Technology Awards, BICTA. With the theme 'Smart Nation through Digital Transformation', it is inline with the Digital Economy Council's vision of making Brunei Darussalam as a Smart Nation. This was shared by Awang Haji Mohammad Nazri bin Haji Mohammad Yusof, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications during the media conference on BICTA 2020, yesterday.
Awang Haji Mohammad Nazri said that the theme focuses on the importance of using digital technology for socio-economic development and enriching the society with needed skills and knowledge in order to join the digital economy effectively. Therefore, BICTA is an initiative that can instil entrepreneurship innovation and this is our united effort in implementing the digital transformation initiative to bring about Brunei Darussalam towards becoming a Smart Nation and uphold the Brunei Darussalam vision which is Wawasan 2035.
Awang Haji Mohammad Nazri as the First Co-Chairman of the BICTA 2020 Steering Committee also shared that BICTA will also hold the presentation of the BICTA Royal Patron Award. The award will be presented to the best participant amongst the winners in all categories up for competition.
BICTA 2020 will see three main categories up for competition namely, ICT Industry; Tertiary and School. Apart from that BICTA 2020 will also present 5 Special Awards for participations that focus on the five latest development among them Research and Development Project as well as Big Data Analytics Technology. In this regard, a number of roadshows on it will be held until July, while the BICTA participation is open until before the 31st of August.
