The Brunei Darussalam State Mufti Department can be seen as the only religious agency in the world that has consistently highlighted fatwas through book publications. This was agreed by overseas counterparts, that Brunei Darussalam is in the forefront with its efforts in publishing books on fatwa.
Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doktor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti, shared the matter during the launch of the latest State Mufti Department book publications, yesterday morning at the Darulifta Brunei Darussalam Building. According to Yang Berhormat Pehin, to date, the State Mufti Department has published 124 book titles. The publication activity carried out by the State Mufti Department to date is one that the country should be proud of. Yang Berhormat also underscored a number of achievements by the State Mufti Department, locally and regionally in the past few years including the award from Yayasan Pembangunan Buku Negara Malaysia.
The books launched were 'Ath-Thaharah', which is compilation of 49 Irsyad Hukum or law guidance journals collected from the Irsyad hukum book published by the State Mufti Department from 1996 to 2018; 'Umara' dan Ulama' which contains special talks, seminar main working papers and discussions delivered by the State Mufti; 'Masjid' a book of the kitab al-Majmu' Syarh al-Muhadzdzab interpretations; and 'Fatwa Mufti Kerajaan Berjilid' or State Mufti Fatwa editions.
The function ran concurrently with a presentation of endowments in the form of the newly launched books to representatives of selected public and higher education institution libraries. The books are endowments from officers and staff of the State Mufti Department. Also present was Doctor Haji Japar bin Haji Mat Dain @ Maidin, Deputy State Mufti.
