An Indonesian man has been produced at the Magistrate's Court in Bandar Seri Begawan following a report of a missing handbag at a restaurant in Kampung Serusop area in Berakas on the 30th of last month.
According to Probationary Inspector Muhammad Zulfadli Bin Haji M Suhaili, Criminal Investigation and Traffic Officer at Berakas Police Station, the victim had left the handbag at the said restaurant. A check of video footage from the closed-circuit tv camera showed the suspect taking the bag to the store area before taking its contents.
The Probationary Inspector said 22-year-old Muhlis Setiawan was charged under Section 403, Chapter 22 of the Criminal Penal Code. The penalty was 1,500 dollars or one month's imprisonment in default. The accused failed to pay the fine and was sent to prison started on the 8th January.
