The Brunei International Airport Emergency Response Exercise is an important exercise to ensure agencies under the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications remains ready and prepared for unforeseen emergency situations. Yesterday morning, Members of the Legislative Council observed the exercise at the Brunei International Airport.
The exercise was also observed by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib Bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof, Minister of Transport and Infocommuncations. The exercise was the second muzakarah held between the ministry and Members of the Legislative Council.
The simulated exercise involved an aircraft with engines stalled, allegedly on fire upon landing. This exercise attempted to demonstrate coordinated efforts between all relevant stakeholders with the urgency and preparedness to optimise response times to mitigate emergency incidents at the airport.
This initiative supports one of the six major Ministry Strategic Objectives under Safety and Welfare outlined in the ministry's upcoming Strategic Plan 2025 to ensure that safety standards, readiness and compliance are ensured and stringently maintained in both the transport and info-communications sectors. The exercise involved the Royal Brunei Police, Royal Brunei Armed Forces, National Disaster Management Centre, Ministry of Health and several other stakeholders.
