The 6th ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus) concluded successfully in Bangkok yesterday afternoon at the Avani+ Riverside Bangkok Hotel marking the end of Thailand's chairmanship of the ADMM this year. Representing Brunei Darussalam to the 6th ADMM-Plus was Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd. Yussof, Second Minister of Defence.
In the morning session, the Second Minister of Defence with the ADMM and ADMM-Plus Defence Ministers attended the Opening Ceremony of Defence and Security Exhibition 2019 at the IMPACT Exhibition Centre, Pak Kret.
The ADMM-Plus Defence Ministers then attended an Official Luncheon and conducted a Joint Courtesy Call on His Excellency Prayut Chan- o- cha, Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Kingdom of Thailand at the Government House, Bangkok.
During the 6th ADMM-Plus, the Second Minister of Defence spoke on the expansion of the ASEAN Direct Communications Infrastructure (ADI) Phase 1 to Plus Countries, where he noted that the Concept Paper on the 'Expansion of the ASEAN Direct Communications Infrastructure (ADI) in the ADMM Process to Plus Countries' had been adopted at the 13th ADMM which met in July 2019. With the conclusion of the 6th ADMM-Plus, Thailand handed over the chairmanship of the ADMM to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the latter of which will be the ASEAN Chair in 2020. Also present was Retired Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Shahril Anwar bin Haji Ma'awiah, Permanent Secretary of Defence.
