Various activities were lined up yesterday as part of the Tutong Lakanon Carnival 2019, which was organised by the Tutong Municipal Department and Tutong District Office in collaboration with the Tutong District Creative and Development Body. The carnival ran concurrently with the Tutongku Ceria Programme held in Tutong Town.
The programme began with a Mass Fardu Subuh prayer followed by Dawn Talk at the Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam Mosque in Kampung Sengkarai. The talk titled 'Kebersihan Sebahagian Daripada Iman' or 'Cleanliness is Part Of Iman' was delivered by Awang Haji Asmat bin Tuah, Certified Speaker from the Brunei Islamic Religious Council, MUIB. Present were Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Umarali bin Esong, Member of the Legislative Council and Awang Shamsul Bahrin bin Haji Mohd Hussain, Tutong District Officer.
Among the activities lined up during the Tutong Lakanon carnival was a fishing challenge organised by the Kampung Penabai/Kuala Tutong Consultative Council at the Tutong Waterfront.
Other activities in the carnival include an ambuyat making and ambuyat eating competition organised by the Tutong Senior Citizen Activities Centre and Kampung Sengkarai Consultative Council took place at the Tutong Night Market Building. The Tutong Lakanon Carnival aimed to elevate the status of local iconic and traditional cuisines as well as acts as a platform towards strengthening the family institution, unity and harmony among the society in the country.
