11 foreigners and a permanent resident were apprehended in a raid conducted by the Royal Brunei Police Force as a room in Kampung Bunut, Brunei Muara District. The raid was carried out yesterday with the cooperation of the Anti-Vice and Gambling Suppression Unit and the House Breaking and Car Theft Unit, Criminal Investigation Department, Royal Brunei Police Force. According to Assistant Superintendent of Police Norainah binti Haji Muhammad Salleh from the Criminal Investigation Department, Royal Brunei Police Force, all suspects are aged between 35 to 50. She said several items including gambling equipment and cash were seized during the raid and were brought to the Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
The Assistant Superintendent of Police added that all suspects were believed to involve in a case under Section 6 (1) of the Open House Gambling Act, Chapter 28. The Royal Brunei Police Force will conduct continuous patrols and will take action against criminal activities in the country.
