His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, President of the Natioanal Football Association of Brunei Darussalam, NFABD yesterday welcomed Gianni Infantino, President of FIFA. The ceremony took place at NFABD House in Berakas.
Also welcoming the delegation were Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports as well as NFABD executive committee members. The presidents of NFABD and FIFA also held bilateral talks on the development of football in the country. The visit by the FIFA delegation is part of the association's series of visits to East Asia in an effort to develop football globally.
The presidents of NFABD and FIFA then exchanged souvenirs. The visit will further strengthen relations between NFABD and FIFA in developing football in the country.
The presidents of NFABD and FIFA as well as delegation then held a meeting with football stakeholders in the country at the Empire Hotel and Country Club, Jerudong.
Among those present included the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports officials, district football associations and federations, national football referee association, Brunei Muara football referee association, football clubs, and football academies in the country. A question and answer session with the FIFA president and delegation was also held.
The presidents of NFABD and FIFA also had the opportunity to take a look at the grassroots football programme at NFABD House field. The delegation then watched the training and had a get-together with the Under 19 national football players and the football team that will compete at the 30th SEA Games in the Philippines.
