The young writers programme organised by the Language Literature Bureau, DBP aimed to produce more young writers who are talented in producing high quality literary works and guide them in a systematic and directed way. The programme covered three core areas comprising Literature Discussion, Basic Workshops on Creative Writing and Folklore Writing.
The 3-day workshop was attended by young active writers who contribute to the bureau's publications and youth interested in literature who seek guidance in literature writing as well as have potential to develop further. The task of guiding the participants in writing short stories, novels, poetry and drama was carried out by Doctor Chong Ah Fok, a local writer who is active in creative writing. The programme was also intended as a catalyst to young writers to become the successors and contributors in the development of literature in the country.
The workshop ended this afternoon with the presentation of certificates by Awang Mohd Azurin bin Othman, Acting Deputy Director of Language and Literature Bureau. The ceremony continued with the presentation of souvenirs to Basic Creative Writing Workshop Conductor and Literature Adviser of the Young Writers Programme 2019.
