The final draft of the Implementation Framework of the ASEAN Framework Agreement on Multimodal Transport (AFAMT) and the draft Declaration on the Adoption of the Implementation Framework of AFAMT was among the agenda discussed during the 11th ASEAN Transit Transport Coordinating Board TTCB Meeting yesterday afternoon. The meeting was held at the Centrepoint Hotel in Gadong.
The meeting was attended by delegates from ASEAN member states, ASEAN Secretariat, ASEAN Doalogue Partners and ASEAN Transport Associations.
Awang Haji Hairul Mohd Daud bin Haji Abdul Karim, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Transport and Infocommuncations as the Chariman of the meeting in his opening remarks commended the progress made by the respective ASEAN Member States in ratifying Protocol 6 Railways Borders and Interchange Stations of the ASEAN Framework Agreement on the Facilitation of Goods in Transit (AFAFGIT), the ASEAN Framework Agreement on the Facilitation of Inter-State Transport (AFAFIST), the ASEAN Framework Agreement on Multimodal Transport (AFAMT) and the ASEAN Agreement on the Facilitation of Cross-Border Transport of Passengers by Road Vehicles (ASEAN CBTP).
Other topics on the main agenda included the implementation status of the TTCB Overall Work Plan; address the challenges in the implementation of AFAFGIT Protocol Five and the development of the implementation of the memorandum of understandings between BIMP- EAGA on Cross Border Movement of Commercial Buses and Coaches and Transit and Inter-State Transport. The meeting was attended by senior officials from Land Transport Department at the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications, other relevant Government agencies as well as local private sectors' representative.
