19th South East Asia Red Crescent Leaders Meeting

The COVID-19 pandemic and the extreme weather phenomenon have affected people throughout the world, and Southeast Asian countries are of no exception. This was stated by the Minister of Health at the 19th South East Asia Red Cross Red Crescent Leaders Meeting, 6th October morning. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar also stressed the need for more effective structures and procedures and the need to adapt as well as strengthen the efforts in order to address risks, better respond to crises and effectively facilitate humanitarian assistance for sustainable recovery in the ever-changing landscape. The meeting was held in Kampung Mata-Mata.

 

Earlier, Alexander Matheou, Regional Director for Asia Pacific International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent, IFRC in his keynote address touched on the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement works.

 

The event continued with the signing of the Memorandum of Intelligent Partnership Signing Ceremony between the Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent Society and the Singapore Red Cross, as well as the handover of First Aid Training Equipment to the Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent Academy.

 

This year marks the first youth involvement through a special dialogue session with leaders to discuss challenges that the younger generation is facing, and identify leadership gaps and solutions for the future leaders.
