The Narcotics Control Bureau, BKN has recently uncovered a drug smuggling technique using tea packets in two separate incidents. The technique is not only used in Brunei Darussalam but also in the neighbouring countries. The Acting Director of Narcotics Control Bureau shared the matter at the 19th Bilateral Cooperation Meeting between the Narcotics Control Bureau and the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department, Royal Malaysia Police, yesterday afternoon.
According to Haji Mohd Jaffari bin Haji Awang Mahadi, BKN has also foiled the entry of dried leaves believed to be 'khat' through the post last month. The case, he explained is still under investigation.
The bilateral meeting was chaired by the Acting Director of Narcotics Control Bureau while the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department, Royal Malaysia Police was chaired Datuk Mohd Khalil bin Kader Mohamad, The Commissioner of Police. Held every year alternately, the meeting aimed to share the drug trends and situation in both countries as well as the legal allocations related to eradication of illicit drug abuse and trafficking. The 19th meeting also opens up space for the two parties to exchange views on best practices as well as learn and further enhance efficacy in the eradication of transboundary drug trafficking.
