Challenges faced in the health system during the post-COVID-19 pandemic, and recommendations to further enhance efforts not only in restoring health aspects, but also to further develop innovative ways of strengthening empowered health systems for future public health emergency preparedness. The matter was emphasised by the Minister of Health during the 15th ASEAN Health Ministers Meeting and related meetings. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar also called for ASEAN cooperation in health development to be continued through the exchange of views and information in learning about the successes and challenges faced in their respective countries.

The meeting was preceded by the ASEAN Health Ministers' Retreat Conference which discussed ASEAN's efforts in developing the Mutual Recognition of Health Certificates for COVID-19 and the establishment of the ASEAN Centre for Public Health Emergencies and Emergence of Diseases. Yang Berhormat also held separate bilateral discussions with the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia and the Minister of Health of the Republic of Singapore. The two-day meeting was held in Bali, Indonesia, started on 14th May.
