The 10th Series of the Borneo History Lecture Programme organised by the Borneo Study Centre, PenBorneo aimed to promote the centre as a source of historical reference and improve the development of historical reference materials’ collection. The programme was held physically and virtually on 26th November morning, at the Borneo Study Centre.
Present was Pengiran Haji Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan, Permanent Secretary for Culture at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. Doctor Awang Haji Muhammad Hadi bin Muhammad Melayong, Principal of the Brunei History Centre in his premier paper discussed the importance of history as reference material, guidance, advice, teaching and even a tool that can motivate and give inspiration especially to youths who are actively involved in the national development agenda.
The talk was presented by three speakers from abroad, namely Datu Doctor Haji Sanib bin Haji Said, General Manager of Sarawak Malay Culture Foundation; Associate Professor Doctor Ismail Ali from Universiti Malaysia Sabah; and Associate Professor Doctor Abdul Razak bin Abdul Kadir from the Academy of Contemporary Islamic Studies, Sarawak Branch of Universiti Teknologi Mara. The Borneo History Lecture programme will continue next Monday at the same venue.
