109th International Labour Conference

The Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam is endeavouring to build partnerships and collaboration between industry players, regulators and training institutions to formulate new upskilling and reskilling programmes for locals. Brunei Darussalam are motivating human resource development through the provision of online as well as hands-on training in Industry 4.0 skills and technical skills. Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Dr. Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, the Minister of Home Affairs stated these in his official plenary address during the virtual 109th International Labour Conference, ILC, held until the 19th of June 2021.

This year's Conference brings together over 4 thousand delegates from the ILO's 187 member states from around the globe to exchange views and discuss the road to recovery in the world of work in light of the global pandemic. Also on the agenda is a recurrent discussion on the topic of social protection as well as the formulation of an outcome document entitled "A global call to action for a human-centred recovery from the COVID-19 crisis that is inclusive, sustainable and resilient". The 4 week Conference will convene throughout this month and will resume committee meetings in November and December this year.
